10-24-10 Me and My Dog Blog

Saturday was a crazy, stormy day. Gusts blew leaves up into the sky and shook the windows. But then there was a bright blue break in the clouds and I felt like taking a walk. It felt perfect outside...cool and fallish. Orange, brown, and yellow leaves were on the road and in the trees. The weather filled me with energy. So I took my ipod, my camera, and my walking stick and headed up the road. I know I look kinda silly...The big headband is holding my earphones in.
So here I go! Here is our  driveway and front yard. Aren't the leaves pretty?
Now I'm heading up the road...

Hey! Look who is following me! It's Lucy!
She and Thunder stopped following us 2 years ago. We used to have to put them in the garage whenever we went on a walk. But now they're old and tired and they just look at us and say, in doggy language, "Yeah right...see you when you get back ya crazy human!" But here she was, running up the road after me. I guess the brisk fall weather made her feel spunky just like it did to me.
So off we go!

I love the colors.

We saw three deer! You have to look very closely. They're back there by the truck.
So we walked toward them to get a better look...

Then they ran into the woods and we went back to the road.

Lucy is starting to get tired.
I started to skip so that I could get a bit of a workout without leaving Lucy behind. Skipping is GREAT! It's fun, and it's really good exercise because you have to jump up in the air. All that springing on your calves is very challenging! Why isn't skipping an Olympic Sport? Why don't people skip? They jog and they speedwalk. Why does no one skip? Is it because they think they look silly?

This is a cool farm house in front of a cabbage field.

This is a beautiful cabbage...

There were dying sunflowers ....

and nasturtiums...
and a scarecrow hanging from a tree..
There is a cute white house at the top of the road with three donkeys. They came running over to us for attention..

I like the two that are gray and white spotted. One was SO sweet and cute it looks like a giant puppy!

Doesn't it!?

It loves me!!

Finally we continued our journey...
this is looking back...

This is the pretty white house...
And this is looking forward...
The storm knocked down some power lines, so the fire department and PGE was out and about...

Now we're headed down Pounder Rd.

I like the name of this place...
This looks like the gate to a magical garden...

This is the stream.
You can see our house from here. It's white, right underneath the line of trees at the top.

Here's a close up...You can see our bedroom & bathroom window.

Goats on the hill...
and a boot thing...

This is Richard's house and his cow...

This little streamlet always runs along Hurlburt Rd.
Lucy's paws are hot.
C'mon Lucy, we're almost home!
This is a downed line!
Here is the final stretch...
This is Bill's hill.
If you look closely near the pole you can see Hazel watching us.
Bruce is waiting for us.

Home!

Everyone was waiting for our return!
